Let me tell you all about Reading Kingdom and our family’s experience with it.
After reviewing many different programs, we settled for Reading Kingdom. I was seduced by how in-depth that reading-writing program is, while at the same time very smooth, fun and entertaining.
What intrigued me was that schools in our country show only 30% of children reading at a “proficient” level, while a staggering 35%-40%, across all socio-economic backgrounds, are failing to master this crucial skill (Source: US Dept. of Education) and those who are succeeding are taking longer to learn than they need to. That system uses a 6 skill model of reading instruction : 1/Sequencing 2/Motor Skills 3/Sounds 4/Meaning 5/Grammar 6/Comprehension, that incorporates elements of phonics and whole language while teaching additional skills required for reading and writing success without requiring kids to learn any complicated rules. You read right! NO complicated rules, no tears, no fuss, just a fun program for children 🙂
When taught all six skills, kids easily master both reading and writing. By focusing on these skills, Reading Kingdom teaches children 4-10 years of age how to read and write at a third grade level.
It is so well made, and parent friendly too. As a parent you have to sit back and relax for a change. The program will take your child along by the hand, and all you have to do is be present next to your child to encourage and support him/her. Whisper ZERO ANSWER to your child -I know that is hard at first but let him/her do it on his/her own-. Observe him/her make progress. Efficient and short, each lesson lasts only about 15 minutes.
